In the English version of the game, King Boo is incorrectly referred to as "Big Boo." Yoshi cannot defeat Boos in this game. After defeating King Boo within, Mario gains the key to the room in which Luigi is imprisoned and proceeds to free him. In the haunt, Mario can find a Luigi painting, which will take him to the Big Boo Battle level on the balcony. If the sixth mission is selected and the player is not Luigi, one particular Boo will wear Luigi's cap.
